Vote for your all time favourite gig!

Gigs Rock. Fact. Now we want to know which concerts have rocked your world hardest.

We're compiling a list of the 100 greatest rock shows ever for a future Kerrang! feature and we want your votes. So here's the deal: pick your three favourite gigs ever (band/venue/city/date) and tell us why those gigs were so special. Then we'll add up all the votes and unveil the winners in the mag.

Send your three picks, along with your name, age, location and MySpace page profile (so we can get your pretty little face in the mag if we decide to use your nominations) to kerrang@emap.com under the subject head 'MY FAVOURITE GIGS'.

We'll print the best entries in the magazine in November. Get voting!

Diddnt Kerrang do EXACTLY the same article in the magazine a few years back. Can things really have changed that much since then?

Aquabats, Carling Academy Islington 8th July 07. Not quite as OTT as their shows in the states but hiilarious all the same.......You would have to be a complete miserable so and so not to come away laughing from one of their shows....

you are all fools

none of you really know music at all. none of those bands deserve any respect or longevity. none of those gigs were good, they were just another tour date for huge posey emo bands.

gigs that will last. radiohead earls court. metallica at download 06 maiden 07 foo fighters at reading 1995 any refused gig slipknot at astoria. i have and can always say ive never been to a really historic gig. but the best gig i have been to was tool at wembley.

but 30 seconds to mars? fall out boy? you think they really care about you kids? no. im sorry they dont. none of those concerts mattered at all what so ever.

Shut the fuck up. While reading this i was thinking, finally, a topic where no one is bashing eachother for their individual musical tastes and whatnot. Until I got to your comment. How the hell did 'those concerts' not matter? You sound like an arrogant arsehole and you should keep your fucking mouth shut and leave people to like whatever fucking music they want. The part of your comment where it said, "just another tour date for huge posey emo bands" just made me laugh. You obviously don't know shit! Hah!

Onto a brigher note...Hell yea!! Taste of Chaos 28th Oct and My Chemical Romance 6th Dec!!! Will be amazing...

Has to be Iron Maiden's charity gig for the Clive Burr MS Trust on 24th June '07. Even though I saw Maiden at earls court last year, I felt that the gig at Brixton had more energy and was the loudest thing ever. Rock on \m/

Magazine Dimensions

I love K Magazine, but d'you know why? It's not becasue I'm a rock fan, or even a music fan for that matter. No, it's because I have a, erm, fetish about magazine/book size. If I buy a novel, it has to be the paperback mass market size, and not the slightly-too-big tradeback size. K Magazine is the only decent read with the right dimensions. I love its size and the fact that it's stapled rather than glued. It's old-style size and binding at its best and I wish I could find other magazines like it.

I haven't been to 3 gigs yet.

But I would say Elliot Minor, The Arc, Stockton, 12th July 2007

Simply because it was my first gig and it was only a small crowd really but it was AWESOME. The Elliot Minor guys are amazing.

Kerrap!

It's quite interesting to read how many of these gigs were this year. I guess this has a lot to with the fact that Kerrap is now a kiddies mag and Mummy and Daddy wouldn't let them out on their own before because they were too young. Ho hum. At least this will allow the had worked "journalists" at the "magazine" to take a couple of days off by filling it's pages with yet another list of greatest ever somethings!

For the record, greatest gigs:
The King Blues - Purple Turtle Residency 2007
NIN and ATR - Brixton Accademy 1999
Wildhearts - Astoria 1996
Marilyn Manson - Forum 1998
Tool - Astoria 1997

Pist.On - sometime in the early 00's! I cant remember the date.

Mk Pitz - relatively small show but evey tune was an anthem - met them and it was one of the last shows they ever played.

Massively under-rated band.

If you like heavy with melody - check em out.

Bands Live

I was lucky enough to see Madina Lake last night at the Garage in Glasgow, supported by My american Heart (who were absouletely amazing!!), Halifax and Envy on the Coast. I queued up for 3 and half hours and the show was incredible. That wasnt my favourite show however, My Chemical Romance at the SECC in Glasgow was phenomenal. A show like that one changes lives. And it definately chenged mine. It was awesome. So my top 3 shows?

My Chemical Romance - SECC Glasgow
Lostprophets - SECC Glasgow
Madina Lake - Garage Glasgow

Nightwish

1) Nightwish, Hammersmith Apollo, September 25, 2005

2) Bowling For Soup, Hammersmith Palais, Debruary 2007

3) Within Temptation, London Astoria, 2007

Those were without a doubt the best gigs I have been to. Just so much energy in all three of them... and hey in the case of Nightwish... seeing a full show of theirs, pyro and everything... and spending from 8.30 am on my 21st birthday queueing for it - had to have been good right?

Actually

Actually I want to change my vote.... instead of the above (1 - Nightwish, 2 - Bowling for soup and 3 - Within Temptation).... my votes are

1) Nightwish - London Hammersmith Apollo, September 25, 2005

2) Linkin Park - London Astoria, May 3rd, 2007

3) Bowling For Soup - London Hammersmith Palais, February 2007

I completely forgot about that Linkin Park show - despite being at the back... damn it was great!

Green Day at the 2004 Reading Festival. Just flawless from start to finish. Metallica at Wembley a close second.

Muse July 2007- Wembely
Need i say anymore.

How good would they be in a small venue.

Ugh, I've been to so many gigs over the years, it's impossible to remember them all.

The only one that really sticks out in my mind is Dir en grey, especially since I met the band at the airport the day after. =)

So, my vote...

Dir en grey. Muffathalle. Munich. 15/08/07.
