Nine Inch Nails to disband

Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor has revealed that the band's current line-up are set to go their separate ways now their current tour is over.

"You are getting the last show of the current incarnation of the band," says Reznor. "At this point, I want to switch things around a bit. I see other ways I can present Nine Inch Nails' material in concert. Something more challenging, something new. I don't want it to go stale."

Nine Inch Nails' current touring line-up - Reznor, drummer Josh Freese, guitarist Aaron North, bassist Jeordie White and keyboardist Alessandro Cortini - played their last show together in Honolulu on September 18.

"The idea of five guys playing loud music two hours, while it's the culmination of fine tuning over a lot of years, has got to change," he says. "I want to whittle things down."

Nine Inch Nails' forthcoming album Year Zero Remixed will be released later this year, although no firm release date has been set.

Sad Panda =(

Good live band but the music that Trent is making now has sort of rendered them obsolete im expecting a bigger stage show and maybe just Reznor and Cortini.

Wow...

"I see other ways I can present Nine Inch Nails' material in concert."

I have a feeling he's going to go more visual... And isn't he working to make a TV program based on Year Zero?

I'm glad that this isn't the last we'll see of Trent, though. That would be really upsetting.

One of the best bands I've ever seen live, and I've seen alot! Will be interesting to see what he does different, I don't mind more visual as long as he keeps it heavy.

oh well, i prefered the older line-up anyways. Robin Fink, Danny Lohner and Charlie Clouser were all better muscians and pulled off the songs better live. just compare "and all that could've been" to "beside you in time" and try telling me that the latter was more entertaining.

why does he always do that?

Well well well.........all i can say is that its sad to see Jeordie White, Aaron North, Josh Freese and Alessandro Cortini go. I really liked them and was lucky to see them in their last tour. What a Band, but its good Trent's expressing his music more but for god sake maybe for once cant you keep the same band members?

Hardly a surprise

THis is hardly news- we all know NIN is just Trent plus a load of A.N.Others and has never been a static 'band'. I've seen the last 2 line-ups, and I reckon this one was the best. THe chemistry this band has is awesome and in Josh Freese and Jeordie White it included two of rock/metal's most talented musicians on their respective instruments. Glad I saw them (3 times), and gutted for those who didn't get chance, but also glad Trent is still hungry enough to change things around and shake stuff up. And I agree that Jeordie should go back to Manson- look how rubbish he's gone since Twiggy left.

Well, whatever happens...

No matter how Trent decides to bring back NIN Live, good or eeeehhhhh, something is still going on with Year Zero. Part two album, TV show, WHATEVER, he's made allusions to it and it's not the remix album, so I'm still excited. =]

These news made me VERY sad cause I loved this line-up... But it's Trent's band so he can do whatever he wants with it. Just Trent, pretty pretty please make it to be great!!

This news made me very sad. Trent is making a mistake letting these guys go, especially Aaron and Alessandro. What happened to him saying that this was the best incarnation of NIN he's ever had?
If I see 5 laptops at the next NIN show I attend, I will be severely disappointed.

i got to see nin twice in sydney about a month ago and it was amazing. i saw manson last nite in sydney and he is definately losing momentum... a short show, kept us waiting in the mosh for an hour, the break between songs was too long and there was no nudity *shrug*

manson has lost his touch but reznor is nowhere near done. nin will never bore me =]
