MCR: "Emo is shit"

A few months ago emo superstars My Chemical Romance were being vilified in The War On Emo which was waged on both sides of the Atlantic by British newspaper The Daily Mail and the Utah-based American news TV channel ABC4. Now singer Gerard Way has declared war on emo himself!

Speaking to an American college website, The Maine Campus, Way said: "I think emo's a pile of shit. I think emo is fucking garbage. It's bullshit.

"I think there are bands that we get lumped in with that are considered emo and, by default, that starts to make us emo," he continued. "ll I can say is anyone actually listening to the records, put the records next to each other and listen to them and there's actually no similarities.

"I think emo's a pile of shit."

actually they have spent ages on the third record, some of the songs were even written around the time of their first album round about 2002-3 so yeah...I think they do spend alot of time on their songs, and they dont give a shit about "the war on emo shite"

so make sure you get your fucking facts right before you go and say things...

1st their real fans don't give a SHIT if MCr are emo or not...Why is it that in a country with laws that say we have the right to FREE SPEECH everyone is scared to say what they think and feel. MCR are one of the few bands that still do this. They don't care what people think about it they're writing what they've been through in their songs and no one is taking that away from them. Personally everyone says that they don't want to be labeled, rock is the rebelling against conforming to what people want us to be and labelling us is putting us all in boxes therefore forcing us to conform. In my opinion Gerard seems like a nice guy who stands up for what he believes in but he deserves a break doesn't he? We're all allowed to snap if we're being asked the same question over and over again, just because he's in a band doesn't mean he has to do things right by his fans and only agree with what they think, he's still entitiled to his freedom of speech. Oh and just because you don't like a band doesn't mean you have to go and shit talk them, you've never meet the people in these bands for all you know they could be the nicest people in the world but you're far too shallow to see it because you'd rather go shit talk their band because of the music they make. jimmy eat world? real emo? just a few years out of date mate. look back to bands such as embrace (the 80's, ian mackaye fronted one, not the 90's indie crap) and rites of srping. they were the first emo bands. and to some extent bands like jawbreaker, husker du and lifetime, who all had that hardcore edge. bands like mcr have so little to do with the original old school of emocore, its an insult to include them in it, and to lable the tennybopper scensters under the same name.

ps. jimmy eat world still rock, but they shouldn't be classed as true emo

So i think its high time people start evaluating the whole situation before they slander something they know very little about.

And before im questioned about my diversity and slagged of for being "emo" as it would be, id like to point out im the voclist in a death metal band, who also is off to university to study music tech and want to become a classical composer and has been in all type of bands.... thanks

His band made the whole "Emo revolution" happen! Hahaha, emo bands get compared to My Chemical Romance, not My Chemical Romance being put next to emo and compared.
I think he needs to get to grips with the fact that his band started this get to where it is.
