AVA: Tom plans groundbreaking new website

Angels And Airwaves frontman Tom DeLonge has revealed plans of a forthcoming new website which he believes will helps bands in the way their music is promoted.

Speaking exclusively to Kerrang!, DeLonge explains the concept behind this new idea, and how this and the band's upcoming album 'I Empire', will launch "one of the world's greatest rock bands and help start a trend to help out rock and roll in way that's never really been done".

"We've been working on building a piece of technology for the past year, that is going to allow bands to do business in a way that they have never been able to do before," enthuses the frontman. "Our website will have elements that no one has ever seen. You'll be able to buy the record, see people in real time and watch movies too. It's totally crazy."

DeLonge says that if the website is successful, it will change the face of rock forever.

"We just believe that music needs help, and we believe that we have a way to help it," says the frontman. "We are trying to set a trend with how bands can communicate their music and make more money than they have ever made in their careers. And if this works, then rock and roll will be doing very well in the next couple of years."

Angels And Airwaves new album 'I Empire' will be available in October.

They are well above average!

First album was okay, but listen to the new songs on youtube!

Secret Crowds is a monster tune!

Sirens, Everything's Magic are blinkish!

Lifeline and Star of Bethlehem are epic.

yeh the guy above me makes a good point about myspace, but also there not a world changing band blink where the only band hell be in which will change peoples live (all be it young people) but they still did. They are just like a poor mans coldplay (and coldplay suck IMO) I think he should just cut his loses and get back to punk rock where he belongs

Tom has an ego, you can question that over and over, but he's doing it for other bands benefits so that should be taken into consideration, he's not being selfish. I miss the Blink day's, but I'm supportive of both AvA and +44 they're as good as eachother. :D

Tom, Tom, Tom, c'mon dude!I really hope to enjoy the new AVA album, even just a little bit. The first one is horrid. I wish you'd stop trying to re-invent the wheel called rock and roll and just get back into playing it. We've all given up, very sadly, on blink-182 ever being again. And,yeah, there's always +44 for those of us who loved that "Mark sound" of blink. I love the "Tom sound" too, but AVA just doesn't cut it for a lot of us. Sorry, but it's the straight up truth.

Head's not too big then,tom,deary?:)

Come ON.
Your band hasn't sold half as many records as most of the other bands out there.
If you were really that good, you wouldn't need to make such a big thing of launching the new album.:)
See where I'm coming from?

what

This finally proves how much of an arrogant arse he actually is.

The "features" he plans for this site have already been suggested and used by other website developers. You can only improve the features.

I'm not saying this because I hate Tom. I'm saying this because I'm a web developer myself and I have the experience of that.

I actually am (was?) an AvA fan... I went to the much hyped Astoria show last month, and it was a real disappointment; I thought I had paid to see a band, not 'The Tom Delonge Show'. I am all for audience interaction, but it seemed like 50% of the show was him spouting shit and prancing around the stage! And the little singing there was wasn't all that great, either...
A little would've been more than enough, thanks!
I will buy the new album, but won't waste my money on another 'concert'.

hmm

I think what Tom is doing is a good positive thing, and most of you are just making it out to be negative.
Tom has not said one negative or self-centered thying.
you all make him out to be this bad person when he's great guy and muscian.
I for one look forward to this movement and I support AVA all the way.
they're just doing what no other band has the guts to do, because they lack confidence and drive
Tom doesn't, he's going to change the world
no doubt

You guys just need to back off ava. They are all great guys. I had the oppturnity to actually met all of them and talk to them at a show in grand rapids michigan before the concert .and every single one of them is as cool and nice as can be. Tom came out three different times to come talk to us and hang out. There were about 10 of us waiting outside and he came out one time for like a half an hour just bullshitting with us and talking about music and girls and how cool strip clubs are. And all the guys were like that, atom and david were cool as hell. You guys just believe all this shit you read on the internet and make tom out to be this big headed ego bastard and in reality hes not. He just has high hopes and has put alot of time and money in this band and wants them to be able to touch people with his music. whats so wrong with that? you guys just need to back off. btw they are a amazing band live ive seen them 2 and both times they sounded amazing.

Wow

If you don't like them, don't visit any site that has to do with them! That would be like me visiting an avril lavigne site, I hate her so I would end up saying a bunch of stuff that is negative. Tom is successful, we can all admit that, unless we lie to ourselves! And WDNTW is a great album and not every song is the exact same and can be proven if you need it to be! Keep your stupid remarks and idiotic opinions to yourself, because you are under educated and will end up feeling dumb! Spare yourselves, please.
