System Of A Down bassist helps out new bands

System Of A Down bassist Shavo Odadjian is launching a new online community to offer "independent and unsigned bands a revolutionary promotional platform."

The project, entitled UrSession, will help people discover new musical talent.

"There's great artists out there, amazing artists. Not everybody has the money to make a demo, and no one knows anyone to get signed," says the bassist. "The record industry is dying, so we thought 'How could we have people audition?', and then I thought of a webcam, uploads, either digital audio or digital video - so that makes demos obsolete. This is our platform, brand new."
