Metallica: 'Master Of Puppets' Part II?

Metallica have revealed to Kerrang! that producer Rick Rubin wants them to make an album as good as 'Master Of Puppets'.

"On 'St Anger', [producer] Bob Rock did everything," says frontman James Hetfield. "He was producer, engineer, bass player, babysitter, father figure - and Rick Rubin is pretty much the opposite, he's not there to babysit. When he first came in, his opening statement was 'I want you guys to impress me: I want you to feel like you're starting out again'. He really wants us to get in the mind-set of 'Master Of Puppets'. It's impossible to recreate what we were 20 years ago, it's silly, but we had to get that hunger back."

Hmm.. I can't see it being as good s Master of Puppets (seeing as how that was one of the best albums ever) but still, i'm looking forward to this, from the sounds of things i's gona be a lot better than St Shite. Of course, they might just have realised that everyone hated St Anger so are obviously gonna say it's not gonna be like that

But still, I have faith this will be a kick-ass album :D

New Album!! Yes!!

I been hoping waiting for this for ages, i found out it comin out in february 2008,
yes itll be impossible to re-create the power of 1986 but if it could just touch on justice for all, itll be a great start :D

Metallica - New Album

Rick Rubin has been one of the greatest producers of the last 20 years and I have been wanting him to produce Metallica since the Black album.

I feel Bob Rock has been one of the main reasons why Metallica have not made a decent album in recent years. I also think he would have liked the bass players job for himself and I don't like some of the things he has said about Jason since he left such as "I always felt Metallica was just you 3 guys anyway".

Jason did a great job for Metallica but I am looking forward to the first album featuring Rob Trujillo, I have liked him since I saw him playing with Suicidal Tendencies and also playing with Ozzy.

I think Metallica can make their best album since M.O.P. which is the best rock/metal album ever.

Totally agree with Watson on that one. Bin Bob ''Commercial'' Rock and bring in Rick ''Raw'' Rubin to rekindle the Metallica of old......
I've always said they went downhill after the Black Album in terms of music and were more interested in keeping their bank managers happy...

i dont see why u all think m.o.p is their best album there wasnt nearlyenouph guitar solos such as there was in kill em all and cmon dyers eve has to be one of the fukin best songs theyve done also mercyful fate was a awsome song it didnt bore you maser of puppets is good but not anywhere near perfect if metallica combine the story telling theme of mercyful fate with the amazing riffs in dyers eve and phantom lord there gona make 1godam good song that will make master of pppets sound crap

As fucking great as a 'Master Of Puppets II' would be, you just can't improve upon perfection I'm afraid. But just because you've made you're super great/life achieving/standout/breakthrough album doesn't mean a band will churn out shite for the rest of their career. I mean it wasn't until Load and Reload that Metallica started going a bit downhill, and St. Anger wasn't that bad was it? I've got all faith in the band and whatever they do for this album. :D
