Manson Vs My Chem: Round 1

Marilyn Manson has blasted My Chemical Romance on a track on his new album 'Eat Me, Drink Me'.

In an interview in 'The London Paper', Manson reveals that 'Mutilation Is The Most Sincere Form Of Flattery' slams MCR frontman Gerard Way and his choice of clothes.

"I'm embarrassed to be me because these people are doing a really sad, pitiful, shallow version of what I've done," he sneers. "If they want to identify with me then here's a razor blade. Call me when you're done and we'll talk."

I do love My Chemical Romance, and I have since Bullets came out, but I'm also a fan of Marilyn Manson.
There's something about Manson's music that has always seemed really fake to me, though, and I can't imagine why he would think that anytbody would want to copy it.
I'll admit that The Black Parade was very un-MCR, but it also helped them grow as a band.
I think Marilyn Manson needs to get over himself and leave My Chemical Romance alone...
And yes, I have to agree with the 'old age pensioner in drag' thing... Brilliant x]

This subject has come to my attention a number of times. Being a fan of both, I got deeply offended at what Mr.Manson was stating falsely about My Chemical Romance. Since when did Marylon become so big headed that he thinks every up and becoming Rock Band is trying to copy him? Just because his fame is slowly burning, does not mean he should take out his anger on other musicains. Marilyn said that MCR is "coping him", but how so? I thought Micheal Jackson started the whole white glove faze. Who's coping who now? Gerard has said it himself, if the person starting the conflict is not worthy enough for him to make a comment on, then he wont even bother thinking twice about the beef. So Marilyn is trying to find a way to get into the spotlight and the only way he can do that is to diss a HUGE rock band so he can get in the media spotlight. But Gerard wont make a comment about it because then he would be feeding into what Mariyon wants...the media's attention. MCR will forever win this battle.

OK – I’ve read all the back biting and bitching (between adults!!!! shocking in itself!!) and cannot keep quiet any longer, whether you’re a fan of MCR or not, I was at Donington and they played their set note perfect, put on a fab show and gave all they had and they deserved a standing ovation (if you’re a fan then they did you proud). Staying to watch Marilyn Manson was slightly disappointing - with the weakness of his new songs and when he did sing his first ‘oldie’ he got the verse wrong!! At the end of the day if we all liked the same bands there would have been only one band to watch at Download for three days!!!! There were three other tents with bands playing, if you don’t like MCR / Marilyn Manson nobody was making you stand there and watch them you were free to leave at any time and go and enjoy other bands, but NO, you chose to stay, throw bottles (full of water – very heavy when landing on a person’s head!!!) and hurl abuse at the fans that were trying to watch them – very immature!!!!

Personally, i think they are both great singers n bands.

I just think its utter bullshit that people complain about these bands. They've both bin slammed by the papers for their music so if anything they are as bad as each other. Not just one to be singled out, but both.

I love them both.
I admire Manson and each and everyone of the MCR guys.

I do think Manson has gone a little too far with his petty remarks though and the whole...having a song to slate someone who is actually well and truly idolised probably in more cases than himself.

Gerard and Manson are both looked up to by hundreds of thousands of children/teens/adults every day - who cares if they have the same make up, who cares if they own the same pair of trousers, who cares if they buy the same brand of frikking eyeliner.

Surely its the music we're interested in.
MCR are a completely origional, unique sounding band and Manson is his own individual.

Fucking get over the fact you wear the same bloody make up.
I doubt Gerard was trying to look like Manson in the first place.
If anyone needs the fashion tips...Manson should be going to Way.

Before I state my opinion let me just say that this whole "goth war" is immature and retarded. I've listened to Eat Me, Drink Me including the song Mutilation Is The Most Sincere Form of Flattery. Basically, I'm on My Chemical Romance's side for several reasons.

A. Gerard handled it in a mature manner and didn't retaliate in an aggressive way. Manson just released Eat Me, Drink Me a week or so ago. So why, now, of all times, would he want to be stirring up controversy?
B. I'm a devoted MCR fan through and through. If you're an enemy of MCR, you're an enemy of me. They're talented individuals that rely on their craft of music. They tell brilliant stories through imagery and amazing music. It might just be my thought, but talent's needed in making great music. MCR has that. Manson has depression and a synthesizer.
C. MCR hasn't stolen anything from Manson. If anything, I think it's the other way around. Manson's new CD is a lot calmer and has more of a simple metal rock sound than his other CD's which had a more aggressive metal sound. Go listen to mOBSCENE and This is the New Shit. Then listen to If I Was Your Vampire. See what I mean? And about Gerard/Frank/Mikey/Bob/Ray taking Manson's looks, well personally I don't know who would want to take them. With the reincarnation of the band with the Black Parade, they have reduced their amount of makeup dramatically. Comparing them to Manson makeup and costume wise, there is a huge difference. Manson relies on shock. MCR is based on true art.
Overall: I'm on MCR's side. And I'm going to do exactly what Gerard is - I'm being as reasonable and mature about this as possible. And if anyone wants to beat what I've said, write something educational for a change.

MCR are my favourite band but i have also always liked marlyn manson but now i have completely lost respect.I think manson thinks he is one of the most important people in rock and that is not true.What is the point of making music if you are going to slag of another band or person. Most bands music has a point or a message and if Manson's message is that he thinks he is better than Gerard Way then i don't see the point in his music.We all know that Manson is the one that will come out looking like a fool at the end of the day because Gerard Way Has handled things in a mature maner and deserves alot more respect than Manson does.

I have to say that i am a 30 yr old mum of 2 and saw MCR at wembley this yr and they were outstanding, i wouldnt dream of going to see manson as he is an egotistical reject!!
If he is so pleased with himself and what he has achieved musically then why may i ask does he need to slag any band off for doing their best and making something of themselves and MCR do get a message across to all their fans and that is NOT to slit their wrists and dont be afraid to ask for help!!!
