looks pretty good, but i think you should vary the posters a bit more. do an online poll of several bands each week to appear or something? i would love to see more victory records bands. and MM new single is CRAP!!
In future kerrang, if you go to a gig, actually pay attention rather than making a gig review up. Paramore at the underworld. They didnt ask fans to film misery business, the front was packed with blokes, constant crowd surfing by blokes, people having to be pulled out from the front as it was so squashed. A hetic gig, every song delivered with emotion, fantastic performance. What do you have aginst paramore?

My favourites were Machine Head, Dream Theater and of course the mighty Iron Maiden. Not that I'm expecting Kerrap! to give more than a sentence to any of them. No doubt more than half of the article will be MCR-whoring. I thought Mastodon were slightly disappointing - they were really good but didn't live up to their immense studio work (unlike Machine Head, who were just wow). Lamb Of God delivered as always. Megadeth were good considering their slot, and are all but confirmed for 2009, which RAWKS!

I haven't bought a Kerrap in months, but today I bought one for the Download review. Two questions:
(1) Have you no shame? Whoring MCR like that and making NO MENTION of the fact that they only play for ONE HOUR!!
(2) Did you actually bother going to Dream Theater before you gave them 3 shitty K's?? Absolute disgrace, that's what you are.
Please start reviewing according to strength of performance, not scene emo appeal. If you respected your readers you'd tell them the truth, not print what they want to read.

I must say your reviews of Donington are varying from good to obscene. Given your close appreciation of MCR (many would say you're kissing their arses but I don't think that) you failed to mention how they only played 64 minutes of a 90 min set.
Your saying that they were 'defiant' and all that? Well to bugger off 30 minutes before they were due to finish doesn't sound very defiant, it just sounds like they couldn't be arsed. Or indeed, they legged it off the stage before the Korn fans came around to give them even more heckling that you claim they are 'defiant' against? I may be wrong on both counts but if there's no clear cut explanation then rumours will fly.
Oh, I have no problem with MCR but come on guys, a bit of reality in your reviews please.

Well done Kerrang, I'm never buying you're pile of piss again. Was whoever wrote those ridiculous reviews even THERE??!! Honestly, MCR got 4 K's?! They were aweful!! AND they left EARLY? Something you failed to mention!! And Dream Theatre only got 3??!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?! They were one of the best acts of the weekend!! I have seen MCR a couple of times before and know they can sound good live, but Friday was just awful. For some reason he sounded like pinky & perky? very odd. To have only played for 1 hour with no encore was just poor.
My personal highlights were Papa Roach, Velvet Revolver, Megadeath (always good live), Reuben, Stone Sour, Linkin Park and Hayseed Dixie (Breaking the Law on banjos is just genius!). Given the chance again, I'd very happily miss Chimaira, Killswitch (so dull I actually fell asleep) and Wolfmother (dull, dull, dull).
Not every band was gonna please everyone and the mix was pretty good - not sure about the headliners and line up (why were Papa Roach on so early?)

Dream theater were the best band at Download at the weekend no doubt about it...and Slayer always give a good show. I was impressed with Stone Sour and Killswitch also. Im actually quite glad some emo bands play at the festival as they make great moving targets for practising my throwing technique.

Kerrang! your magazine is the best out there, its cheap and its packed with stuff we want to know. I especially like the free huge mcr posters, if we could have more of those that would be great. The last huge poster you did wa 'Frankie' from MCR, how about one for each member of the band? as there havent really been any in a while.
It is indeed packed with stuff you want to know. But at the expense of THE TRUTH. They're just telling you exactly what they know you want to hear. It tends to shift mags better.

I just wanted to say how spot-on you were with your review of My Chemical Romance.
My Chem put on an absolutely amazing show at Download and proved that being bottled doesn’t break them, it purely motivates them.
As you said, they have built a career on triumph over adversity, and this was yet another example of how they’re going to carry on creating and performing amazing and unique music – and they are never going to let bottle throwing ‘haters’ bring them down or stand in their way.
Don't make me laugh. The strength of their performance is a matter of opinion, so I won't argue on that front. But you think they're never going to let ''bottle throwing 'haters' bring them down'??? They came off stage half an hour early!! "Being bottled doesn't break them"? You sure about that? It looked like it did when the bassist was rolling around on the stage, and they were walking off after just 64 minutes.

Kerrang is a varied mag that caters for all sorts of tastes accross the rock world. It can't get it right ALL THE TIME FOR EVERYONE!
People need to wake up and let other people enjoy their own tastes in music, and be a bit more diverse.

I still can't believe you morons gave Dream Theater a trashing in your Download review, and gave no other reason than that their songs are too long. Perhaps you'd like to suggest to them that they produce more radio-friendly pop, so they can play more songs at low-key festival gigs? I mean, seriously, what are you on? Is it their fault for creating the music they want to, or is it LiveNation's for putting them that far down? Or is it neither's fault, and just something that happens at festivals. They played a pretty long set, is it such a crime that they didn't have a break every 3 minutes? I think I should do your reviews for you - I'd do them so much better. But wait, I'd never work for such a shamelessly trend-following pile of refuse as Kerrap. Just as long as you know that the entire music community, with the exception of emos and the occasional scene kid, laughs at you and your pathetic excuse for a magazine.

I must agree with Nick (whom I assume is paddys4anarchy DLF) on your trashing of Dream Theater. Do you not see the talent that these men posess?? Certainly any more than Paramore, MCR, or Aiden or anyone else you regularly feature.
And saying that a song is 'too long' is no excuse for a bad review. Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture is 17:00 minutes long. Would you call that a terrible song, or a poor performance??
Dream Theater write songs that are PROGRESSIVE metal. So it doesn't matter how long the song is. I suggest that you listen to Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence by DT and call it a poor piece of music.
Arranging a full orchestra, plus your own parts (multi-layered) and writing vocals on a 42-minute song is not for the feint-hearted.
Down with KERRAP! up with METAL HAMMER!!! DEFENDERS OF THE FAITH.

Mention Kerrang at any festival, along with NME and you shall get a chorus of boo's and other chants.

MCR are a good band even though people says thats all people talk about knowadays they are doing well so why not talk about them...a lot!!!

Download Reviews
Just read you review of the Download weekend... and what an awesome weekend it was!!
Couple of points...Why was there no mention of MCR playing only 2/3 of their "headline" set, and have you actually ever given them a bad review? Dont tell me its because they're amazing because any knowledgeable music fan knows that they have never been better than an average teeny rock band.
Secondly, Machine Head didnt play "Ten Ton Hammer" at Download, any journalist worth his salt should know that.
Reviews i found spot on were Korn, Dimmu Borgir and Slayer (who i do agree have become a tad boring!)

Download Festival Reviews
What is the deal with your reviews of this years festival?!?! Were you even there?
How the hell are the youth of today ever going to appreciate musicians for their actual musical abilities instead of the way they do their hair or how much eyeliner they can fit around their eyes?!?!
Dream Theater may not be Radio 1 Chart Show material but they are amongst some of the best musicians IN THE WORLD at the moment and you are completely out of your minds to not rate them as 'festival worthy' because they have long songs! Have you ever heard of Progressive Rock? Bands like Pink Floyd? Would you have rated Led Zeppelin this way if John Bonham had ripped out his 30 min drum solo??? NO, I don't think you would.
Same goes for Velvet Revolver. You get all excited every time Axl f'ing Rose turns up with promises of that long-awaited album but when VR put on an amazing show at Download pulling at least 1000 more people that MCR you only give them 2 K's?!
Kerrang staff, you need to get the hell out of this 'emo' rutt you have stuck yourself into and start reviewing real musicians that budding guitarists/drummers/singers/whatever can actually aspire to be!!
GET BACK TO YOUR ROOTS, in the 90's Kerrang was the best magazine around and you damned well know it!.
I can't believe VR got 2 K's! That's just taking the piss, I saw VR the day before in Cardiff and they were incredible, and totally nailed the show, as they did in Download (webcast).
I don't understand why people hate Scott, too. So he isn't Axl Rose - GET OVER IT - he's a better frontman than Axl anyway, so sort your life out Kerrang.
Oh and I wish people would stop going on about Paramore... they're crap.

Kerrang! as much as I worship your magazine, I think you are lacking in enough female-fronted metal! More Evanescence, Lacuna Coil and Within Temptation, us females deserve some more credit. Well, at least you've got Paramore.

Well im glad and thankful for the Manson Poster, not so sure about the other two though o.o
The reviews weren't so great, and I agree with a lot of people here, Kerrang sorry but you'r heading for Emo/Scene fantasty world. Snap out of it cause not everyone wants to hear about how MCR or FOB or some band like that has recently claimed themselves emo or split up or put a little too much eyeliner on and forgot to cover up their scars on their wrists.
As for Muse, they are fabulous. One of the best bands around I would say. They have definitely improved over the past years and are becoming from a small band to as well known as people such as Green Day and that.

In this Moment Review
With regards to many of the ratings in Kerrang magasine, I was unpleasently surprised by the review of "In this Moment". As I went to see Devildriver at the Wolverhampton Civic bar last week, I was unaware of the support bands. I was surprised that a female vocalist came on, and she didn't half get the crowd going. She has an AMAZING female screaming voice, and her singing lyrics were impecable. I'm ever so surprised that you could put such a bad review in the Kerrang magasine, as I'm sure if you were there on the same night that you'd also agree with me, and many of my friends. Especially the break-down's in the songs, which got the (small, but lively) crowd going in a circle pit. And I mean the whole crowd!
c'mon, this is the 4 time u have poster on the used. can't u have poster on mcr (maybe one only on bob or other in the band) , panic! at the disco, the red jumpsuit apparatus, the all-american rejects. please, i would be soooooooo happy :D ..and you guys who don't like a band..please shut the fuck up instead of complain.
