Coheed Recruit Foo Fighters drummer

Coheed And Cambria frontman Claudio Sanchez tells Kerrang! that they've recruited Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins to play drums on their new album, following the departure of Josh Eppard in November 2006.

The band are busy recording the snappily-titled 'No World For Tomorrow', their follow-up to 2005's 'Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness' with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters) at The Path studios, Hollywood.

"Taylor's actually brought a tremendous amount to the band," says Sanchez. "He's an interesting drummer in the fact that he's a songwriter, so when he's playing the drums he's not thinking of it as 'Oh, I'm a drummer, how flashy can I be?', he's really 'What is going to add to this song and make it the strongest it can possibly be?' So it's definitely a new take on that part of the band and I think it really works well."

'No World For Tomorrow' will be released in the autumn.

"FTW" ? Damn, with comments like that you shouldn't even be allowed to listen to Coheed and Cambria.

I hope your ears explode next time you listen to them.

C&C + FF = (Y)

Great choice

Hawkins is an amazing drummer

I can't wait for this album, C&C and FF are two of the reasons I got into music and C&C are easily one of the most inventive and talented bands on the planet.

Great news!

I've been looking forward to this album since Claudio brought out the Prizefighter Inferno's album

And with Hawkins beating the skins they'll have a new edge to them..., I can't wait.

Is this aswell as Chris Pennie?

Yea I think they're both gonna be playing on the new album.

In Pennie they've got themselves a technician as well really, someone who can help out with the studio stuff and then Hawkins brings in a more... well for lack of a better word musical aspect. Like Claudio said, hes a songwriter so he thinks like one and will be helping to improve the album.

The Best

Coheed are the best live band I have ever seen, the translation from recording to a live setting is near perfect everytime, even their hard rock live performance was awesome which I was lucky enough to attend, this band constantly change their set-list and are phenomenal

This can only be a good thing - Coheed live on! They are without doubt a most talented band and I can't wait to catch them live again.

This is awesome news!!! Only one problem though: He isn't leaving Foo Fighters is he? I really hope not, 'cause he's an amazing drummer, and I'm going to see them play in August, and it wouldn't be the same without him!

So long, and good night...

MCRFAN: No he's not leaving, for instance Dave Grohl is always jumping in and out of various projects - be it his own or other peoples and always returns to the Foos. At present the Foos are dabbling with the touring circuit in addition to their own personal projects.

As for Hawkins and Pennie, Hawkins is covering the recording side whilst Pennie is doing the touring.
