Sum 41 are set to return with their next studio collection 'Underclass Hero' on July 23.
The band - whose line-up features Deryck Whibley (vocals/guitar), Cone McCaslin (bass) and Steve Jocz (drums) - are ready to roll with the addition of new guitarist 'Tom', who replaces departed member Dave Baksh, who left last May. Speaking to Kerrang!, Deryck - who produced the album himself - revealed some details about the next Sum 41 installment and what fans can expect.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE SOUND OF THE RECORD?
DERYCK: "It's the best elements of everything we've ever done. It's not like a heavy metal album, it's not a light pop album or anything - it's kind of like the best of everything, it's a pretty aggressive record but it's the most right record we could ever make, it sounds exactly like something a Sum 41 fan would want."
IS THERE ANYTHING SURPRISING ON THERE THAT WE MIGHT NOT EXPECT FROM THE BAND?
DERYCK: "I think this whole record is going to be a surprise to people, I feel pretty confident in it. It's definitely by far our best album. I know everybody says that. But there's nothing that anyone could ever say to me that would prove to me that this record's not our best. We're just a better band now, we've been playing together for 10 years so we're just that much tighter!"
Song titles at this stage include 'Underclass Hero', 'Walking Disaster', 'March Of The Dogs', 'Pull The Curtains' and 'Confusion And Frustration In Modern Times'. The band will play the London Astoria on July 5.
