Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee got married this past weekend, a mere day before issuing a statement reporting that drummer Rocky Gray and guitarist John LeCompt have parted company with the chart topping rockers.
Lee's father, John, confirmed to an Evanescence fansite that his daughter married her therapist fiance Josh Hartzler at a private ceremony on Sunday May 6. "The big deal at the wedding was the flowers," he told www.evanescencefan.net. "Many, many flowers. It was absolutely beautiful and everything went perfectly."
The following day, Evanescence's management issued a statement via the band’s official website www.evanescence.com on behalf of Lee reporting Gray and LeCompt's shock exit from the band.
The statement reads as follows:
"Evanescence is alive and well. John and Rocky were in Evanescence for four years and we shared some great times together playing live, but they were ready to move on and so we have parted ways. Evanescence is something I have loved and nurtured since I was fourteen, and I will continue to protect and fight for it as I always have."
That said, fans worried that the departure of Gray and LeCompt has thrown the band's upcoming slot at the Kerrang!-sponsored Download festival on Sunday June 10 into question need not worry.
"Terry [Balsamo, guitar], Tim [McCord, bass] and I are very excited to play live with some amazing new musicians and we will rock harder than ever," the statement continues. "Stay tuned for more news on that front. And don't worry about the tour, guys. Nothing will be cancelled and we will see you soon!"
