Don't like Evanescence, they're way to overrated. There are /many/ bands with the same format and sound /better/. Like Within Temptation.

i like evanescence and i totally aggree with ew they are far far better bands than evanescence with a similar set up but i just also think that maybe evanescence is turning into one of those bands were you just have Amy Lee and not a perement set up of band members. (What Amy Lee does to drive them away i dont know) but if the band is forever changing how do you expect them to keep to a style when ideas and thourghts are changing. I cant see evanescence living long. Although some may argue look at Megadeth dave mustain still manages to keep it alive.

Well i like all 3 bands you mensioned there m8 (probobly more nightwish and Within Temptation) but you know you cant compare evanescence with them because they are a completly different genre to within temptation and nightwish.

Amy Lee has a good voice and Evanescence could be a good band, but Amy Lee seems to treat the band members quite badly and without them Evanescence wouldn't actually exist so.......

Evanescense cant split up, its not right. There a great band, so they just cant. There one of my favourite bands, ive listen to them for years, its just not fair if they split up!!!! i just cant imagine why they would want to split up...thats if they do. i just wont believe it! :(

Evanescence have been through worse than this and still got through it, the two original members, Ben Moody and David Hodges left, this didnt manage break up the band and they went from strength to strength! even though Rocky + John have left the band will still rock harder than ever. Evanescence is going nowhere! so you better WATCH OUT!

Having read these comments I find the mentality of so called "Evanescense" and "Within Temptation" fans (both of which have made one comment or another) to be immature and pathetic.
I am actually a true fan of both these bands and feel that both groups (especially WT who are absolutly fantastic live!) to be two of the most talented groups around today.
Although many people do not rate The Open Door compared to Fallen, I feel that Amy shows guts in creating an album that shows the true depth of her soul. Good on you Amy! x

i love evanescence, theyre my fave band and i love amy lee. shes awesome and i really cant see her 'drivng her bandmates away'. maybe its just the hopeful wishes of a fan but i really cant! admittedly the unstable line up isnt that good, definitely the best lineup was amy, terry, will, joh and rocky. if only they couldve stayed like that.
i went to see them in november so if they break up ill be v gutted but at least i saw them x]

Just had to point out that Lacuna Coil have been around since 1994, and Within Temptation and Nightwish since 1996. Evanescence? Well they've been around since 1998. I don't usually comment on childish arguments held by image conscious schoolkids, but you have to get your facts straight. Personally, I don't think any of these particular bands are copying any of the others as there are differences between all of them. Look beyond the female vocalists kiddies. Nightwish use elements of opera, Within Temptation are the most 'goth', Lacuna Coil are metal and Evanescence are... oh hang on, they are a mix of all that aren't they? And they're the newest too aren't they? Hmmm......

The fact is amy and the boys are getting older and need to do other things for a while like you do and touring and living out of a wagon aint nice you wouldnt last 5 mins with the life they lead as kids of today have little tolerance.

They wouldn'nt QUIT,then i see it's not there falt,that they dont want to quit,but it's down to there foolish management people.
As they seem to think that Evanescence is to good for Rocky Gray & John Lecompt,But sum of us arnt to drunken in the mind to realise that every band has it's ups and downs,because there with each other -so much and they do need there space.
Also everyone no's this band has had there fair shares of ups and downs,but they alway's pull threw and come back fighting.
Ive always luved there music and i had been hoping there new album would be comming out soon,because when ever im down or feeling alone i just shove there albums on and wack up the volume,and every thing seems to feel better,but no affence to Amy Lee but as much as i respect her as a singer and my insperation,i still question there up comming album's standerds,I mean who thinks they can step up and fill Rocky Gray & John Lecompt boot's!?!

So a few years ago she splits with a guy coz he went into rehab to sort out his ife, and now she's with some therapist guy. how ironic. Personally, the Evanesence split sounds like good news.

Ok, so I just finished reading this article and ALL of the comments left on it, and so here I am adding my opinion. The reason I'm wasting my time on this is because I like Evanescence and Within Temptation ( I honestly don't care much about Lacuna Coil and Night Wish though their talent goes unquestioned). Ok, so, Amy Lee has beautiful stunning eyes and her wardrobe is pretty interesting. Her voice on her albums is flawless though her songs tend to be a little... redundant? All she sings about is how she feels and how things are affecting her, and that's good, if music is her therapy, then go for it, but as far as her being THE most beautiful and STUNNING person on the planet as some of you have said....well I must disagree, because have you guys seen her without makeup? JEESUS! Not only that but it seems she only looks good in photo shoots and she only sounds good on her albums, because if you guys have seen her live then you KNOW (even though as a fan it hurts to admit it) that she sucks and her vocal range isn't that great. If you guys don’t believe me, look her up in youtube! I was soooooo disappointed when I saw her live, it was the most horrible performance that I have witnessed, but I'm not saying I hate her…NOPE, I love both of her albums ( even though Fallen all sounded the same and The Open Door isn't that heavy). Now, Within Temptation is another matter completely (in terms of sound etc) but they have gone through some of the stuff Evanescence has gone through like changing (firing?) band members and Sharon got married too ( to her guitarist Robert Westerholt and they now have a baby). Sharon is beautiful with or without makeup, and her voice is flawless on her albums and LIVE. I have seen Within Temptation live and WOW, they blew me away. Sharon actually cares how she sounds live (unlike Amy who said she didn’t really cared what her voice sounded like live). And Sharon writes music full of metaphors and it’s deep if you really understand her lyrics. Within Temptation are categorized under Symphonic Metal and Evanescence are… I don’t know… Nu-metal? “Gothic Metal” because of the way she dresses? I’m not sure, but I love them both, Sharon and Amy are both awesome people but it’s is obvious who the more talented one is: Sharon. And why are we wasting our time comparing and ranting on about how “fugly” Sharon is and how Amy Lee is a “stuck up cow” when they themselves don’t criticize each other? I’m sure they both like and respect each other both in music and as people. They don’t sound the same, they don’t have the same style so stop comparing them ( even though I just did, lol) Within Temptation is way better, but that doesn’t mean Evanescence are inferior to them, they just need more time… if they make it! And congrats to Amy for her marriage to her therapist… even though that’s kind of odd, lol… LATERZ
